First affirmative's duties:
- Defines the motion of the debate. The first affirmative should ensure that no important points of definition are left out.
- Presents the affirmative's theme line
- Outlines the affirmative's team split
- Delivers substantial argument
- Provides a brief summary of the speech.
- Rebuts the first negative's major arguments
- Briefly restates in general terms the affirmative's teams case
- Delivers substantial argument (the second speaker's duty is to present the bulk of the affirmative case)
- Provides a brief summary of the speech
- Rebuts the points raised by the first two Negative speakers
- Rebuilds team's case
- Summarizes the issues of the debate
